BLOG POST 3

This week has been my busiest yet. I feel like I am learning more now by facing more challenges.

I got to visualize a more clear version of my project in Rhino and played with cutouts for playful lighting.. as well as a housing for the 3D printed project to come.

Figuring out the cutouts was an interesting part of the process, I had some trouble with some of the pieces and had to do a lot of playing around to get them to look right.

Imagery...

Sticking with my usual style I kept things a bit dark or strong in imagery. I think this will look really pretty with the material and light source.

I spent a lot of time playing around with probably too many iterations of tiny things... but as I keep finding more little problems (when I see what I have, and then try to imagine what will happen when it is actually cut) I see it is a necessary process.

I went back and moved certain things, because if I were to put the 3D printed object in the hearts hole, I was worried about the filament melting (idk what its heat resistance is like) so I placed things a bit lower.

You and I discussed different joineries rather than finger joints and I forgot to take screenshots of this part as I was worked up trying to get it to work. I took the circle joinery idea to Peter to try and have him help me visualize it.. and he suggested that I do finger joints, because either way I do the joinery, I am going to have some pieces sticking out with this shape. I looked at an example of someone else doing this with a pentagon and I liked the look.

We can discuss this further if you hate the idea, we just thought that in order to keep the most light in this would provide the tightest joinery.

I am trying to finish this all tonight so I am going to get started on the joineries as soon as I post this. I waited to do all of the cutouts until I knew how the joinery could work for sure (after a meeting), so I am in a panic. LOL. Surprise surprise.

I believe I can do it all today, but with my ADHD I have no sense of time at all. My rule is always triple the time I think things will take.

I feel the pressure.

CHEERS!

Update: This grenade pattern is obnoxious and giving me a lot of issues. The grenades are getting buried in the surface and it is making it hard to get cut out. I am at a standstill and do not know what to do.
